Weekend hobby - big and little stuff

So weekends are sometimes great times for hobby for me and sometimes more family time and little hobby. This weekend after the inspiration that lead me starting the lizard team I was lucky enough to get more hobby time. Friday night was assemble start - that continued into Saturday. Managed to build all the lizards - empty the sprues (which is a great feeling) and then got them primed. Priming for me is quite simple at the moment. Out to the garage rattle can undercoat of Matt black and then a light grey spray from one direction to help with the shadows. Straight off the details start to jump out and they look a lot of fun to paint. I’ll need to start that soon. Took a quick video of them below need to think of a paint scheme (not a strength of mine!)
Sunday was a lot more of a practical day for hobby. My hobby space is also my home office, and I’m luckily enough to work from home quite a bit. That means the desk needs to be fit for both work and hobby. I’ve got the swap over from work (mainly keyboard etc) and hobby (headphones and cutting board) down to a fine art of 5 minutes switch over. However, the drawers of the desk are massively untidy with lots of pens and office supplies, spare electronics and wires, and lots of my accessories and tools for the 3D printer. So quick trip to hobbycraft and having heard a lot of good things about foam core I got some sheets. I’ve started to build desk inserts that I can set the sizes for what’s being stored in them, using a glue gun to stick it all together. Foam core is great stuff soon I was cutting templates and getting enough ready to do four drawers. Started with the pens drawers and I think I might have a sharpie or two. Learnt a bit as well (like didn’t plan quite enough but you can trim foam core easily with the knife. And it’s a lot tidier. But not everything is going back. No I didn’t test each pen. But unless I can figure out another use for OHP pens they can certainly go!

All in all a good weekend for some hobby and practical hobby drawers will take more work over next couple of evenings and I suspect I’ll have some “stuff” left to sort.
I‘m enjoying the different slants on hobby and hobbying. Always satisfying to build something! Onwards I go
